School Programs (year-round)

Owl Chorale
Volunteers: Year-round | 1 hour per week

Owl Chorale gives students the opportunity to sing, listen and perform while being introduced to a wide range of musical styles. Participants: Tuesdays before school (pay fee $30 for 1, $40 per family)

Band & Orchestra

Band and Orchestra is an after school program that allows students to learn an instrument. 2 concerts per year. Sign ups are through Riverton Music. No Volunteers Needed

Chess Club
Volunteers: Year-round | 1 hour per week

Chess Club teaches students about chess basics and strategies. They meet for weekly lessons and matches. All students participate in a tournament, receive an award, and team t-shirt. Participants: Thursdays after school (pay $35 fee)

Meet the Masters
Volunteers: Year-round | 2 hours per month

Meet the Masters is the Fine Arts program that teaches the students monthly about a historically significant visual artist. Students complete their own projects based upon the work of the featured artist.

Service Club

Volunteers: Year-round | 1 hour per month

Service Club is free for all students and meets several times during the school year. Activities provide service in and around our community.

Volunteers: Year-round | 1 hour per week

DYAD Reading is a program where you read with students individually to help them grow as a reader.

Drama

Drama is a great opportunity for students to participate in class plays.

Dance Class

Tanner Dance Company provides dance classes for each grade for half of the school year.

Birthday Books

Birthday Books gives the opportunity to donate a new book to the library in your child’s name on his/her birthday (half birthday for summer birthdays). You pay for the book that your child has chosen for the library. The book will have a label with their name and they will have a chance to check it out for 2 weeks.

Grand "Person" Lunch (TBA)
Volunteers: One week | 3 hours

Grandparents Day is where lunch is dedicated to grandparents being able to come eat with their grandchildren. You can opt to eat a school lunch or bring in your own lunch.

Book Fair (Sept 20-30 & Feb 7-10)

Volunteers: 2 weeks | 2-3 hours

Book Fairs are held twice a year for two weeks and are a student favorite. Students are able to purchase books and activity kits. Purchases help the library grow.

Reflections (Oct 4)
Volunteers: 2 days | 4 hours

Reflections is an arts recognition and achievement program where students can explore and create using various art mediums.

White Ribbon Week (Nov 8-11)
Volunteers: One week | 5 hours

White Ribbon Week teaches children how to be safe online through media literacy.

Volunteers: 3 weeks | 4 hours per week

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Fair allows students to gain knowledge in scientific areas through hands-on experience.

Teacher Appreciation (March 28 - April 1)

Committee volunteers: 2 weeks | 8 hours

Class Coordinator volunteers: 2 weeks | 4 hours

Teacher Appreciation Committee plans a week full of appreciation events. Tasks include decorating the school, door decorating, providing meals, and preparing gifts.

Teacher Appreciation Class Coordinators communicate to the classroom parents to help facilitate gifts and letters for the teacher. Tasks also include decorating the teacher’s door for the week.

Junior Achievement (April)

Volunteers: 5 weeks | 2 hours per week

Junior Achievement teaches students about work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills.

Field Day (June 1)

Volunteers: 2 Weeks | 4 hours per week

Field Day is outdoor events and games for one day the last week of school.

Promotion (June)

Volunteers: 1 Week | 3 hours

Promotion is planning a graduation party for the 5th Grade students.
