Meet our Teachers
Mrs. Jenkins graduated with her Bachelors degree from Utah State University and her Masters Degree in Education from University of Phoenix. She has taught Kindergarten for 13 years. Previous to that she was lead teacher for 7 years in the district Preschool department. She is married to her husband Bruce and they have one son, Parker, who is in 3rd grade at Oakwood. They also have 2 cats (Silver and Oreo) and 3 dogs (Max, Snuggles and Bentley).
This is my 38th year teaching! I have taught 2nd through 6th grade students throughout the years. I plan on teaching for one more year until I ride off into the sunset with my husband.
This is my third year at Oakwood and third year in First grade. I love it here and couldn’t imagine being anywhere else! I really enjoy teaching First grade because I get to see the students become amazing readers. I was born and raised in Salt Lake and received my Bachelors in Elementary Education at the University of Utah. I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Matt, for two years. We have one rambunctious German Shepherd, Theo. In my free time I enjoy sewing/quilting, baking, and spending time with my family. In the fall you can find me attending and watching University of Utah football games and Skyline High football games. My favorite season is winter- so I can ski! In the summer I like to mountain bike, golf, play tennis, fish, go to the beach or go camping. I am so grateful for the Oakwood community and for all the love and support you give.
This is my 17th year teaching at Oakwood Elementary! Prior to teaching at Oakwood, I taught preschool with Granite School District while my children were young. I have taught Preschool, Kindergarten and First Grade and have loved them all.
This will be my 6th year teaching at Oakwood, but I have also been at two other schools in this district. I have a Master’s Degree, a gifted and talented teaching endorsement, and a reading endorsement. I have taught 1st, 3rd, 6th, and 2nd grades. Each grade is so different from each other, and offers its own unique challenges and rewards. Even though I prefer teaching the lower grades, 6th grade was an absolute joy to teach. At that age, the kids are so capable and insightful.
I am thrilled to be at Oakwood this year teaching 2nd grade!
I was born and raised here in Salt Lake City and love every bit of it. After high school, I went to Utah Valley University where I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education last year.
Although I love teaching, I love other things too. I love chocolate, fashion, Diet Dr. Pepper, boating, traveling and movie theatre popcorn. I am married to a good lookin’ cowboy that I met on a blind date at the beginning of the pandemic! Here is a picture of us this summer in Sacramento, CA. I hope you all can understand a little bit more about me, and I’m so excited to do the same with Oakwood and my class! It’s going to be a great year!
This is my 23rd year teaching and I love children! I appreciate their energy, unique ways of thinking, their creativity, and personalities. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, working in the garden, and hiking. I am very excited to share my passion for Science and Social Studies with our students this year. This will be a fun year of investigations and discovery. I have a Master's in Instructional Design and Educational Technology, and Master's in Educational Psychology both from University of Utah. I also have teaching endorsements in Gifted and Talented Learners, English Language Learners, Educational Technology, and American History.
