Meet our Teachers
This is my 37th year teaching! I have taught 2nd through 6th grade students throughout the years. Although I’ve loved them all, the personalities of the second- grade students have really won my heart. I plan on teaching for two more years until I ride off into the sunset with my husband.
This will be my 5th year teaching at Oakwood, but I have also been at two other schools in this district. I have a Master’s Degree, a gifted and talented teaching endorsement, and a reading endorsement. I have taught 1st, 3rd, 6th, and 2nd grades. Each grade is so different from each other, and offers its own unique challenges and rewards. Even though I prefer teaching the lower grades, 6th grade was an absolute joy to teach. At that age, the kids are so capable and insightful.
I am thrilled to be at Oakwood this year teaching 2nd grade! Not only is this my first year at Oakwood, it’s (part of) my first year of teaching! Last year, I taught 4th grade at Oakridge Elementary for the last half of the year. I loved my 4th graders but, I am so excited to be with some younger kids this year!
I was born and raised here in Salt Lake City and love every bit of it. After high school, I went to Utah Valley University where I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education last year.
Although I love teaching, I love other things too. I love chocolate, fashion, Diet Dr. Pepper, boating, traveling and movie theatre popcorn. I am getting married in September to a good lookin’ cowboy that I met on a blind date at the beginning of the pandemic! Here is a picture of us this summer in Sacramento, CA. I hope you all can understand a little bit more about me, and I’m so excited to do the same with Oakwood and my class! It’s going to be a great year!
This is my 22nd year teaching and I love children! I appreciate their energy, unique ways of thinking, their creativity, and personalities. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, working in the garden, and hiking. I am very excited to share my passion for Science and Social Studies with our students this year. This will be a fun year of investigations and discovery. I have a Master's in Instructional Design and Educational Technology, and Master's in Educational Psychology both from University of Utah. I also have teaching endorsements in Gifted and Talented Learners, English Language Learners, Educational Technology, and American History.
My name is Mrs. Munot. I grew up in India and moved to US in 2002. My husband, Shailesh, is an Architect and works on healthcare projects. I have two handsome boys, 17 and 11 years old! I earned the Bachelor's degree in Architecture from India. When I moved to US, I started volunteering in schools and totally fell in love with teaching. I went back to school to get my teaching license. I taught second grade at 'Navigator Pointe Academy' charter school for two years. Later, I taught third and fourth grade at Jordan District for 11 years. I have been teaching third grade at Oakwood since 2017. Besides teaching, I do henna tattoos for events. I love to dance! I perform dances at Indian cultural programs. I enjoy sharing my culture and yoga with students!
I am so happy to be teaching at Oakwood Elementary! I love to be at school with the students, it is one of my favorite places to be. I have two master's degrees; MA Mathematics Education and MS Curriculum and Instruction. I also have an endorsement in English Language Learning. My favorite subject to teach is math, especially multiplication and division. I also like to teach fractions. My interests outside of school are baking, playing golf with my family, and photography. I am a wife and a mom to three children. My children attended Oakwood, Bonneville, and Cottonwood. We are all proud to be Owls!
Fourth grade has been my favorite and almost only grade I’ve taught for the last 16 years! I love everything about fourth grade starting with the amazing students who love learning and taking part in our learning activities!
I’m from North Carolina, and a Duke graduate, but got my Masters Degree in Education, Math Endorsement, English as a Second Language Endorsement, and Four Naturalist Certifications from Utah State University.
Summer favorites for me and my family have been raising our new puppy, “Diggy,” camping, swimming, mountain biking, and hiking. My husband and I are empty nesters with frequent visits from our two grown kids.
The kids are what make my year really fun! I can’t wait to see them every August!
